Gosport Heritage Open Days: 6 - 15 September

Gosport Heritage Open Days are back, and Holy Trinity is proud to be hosting several events, as well as opening up for general tours.

Below is a list of the sessions taking place at Holy Trinity. You can view the full Gosport Heritage Open Day programme online, or pick up a hard copy at the back of church, the Town Hall, Gosport Discovery Centre or the Gosport Museum.

Sunday 8 September, 2pm, The Capper Room
Gosport since 1945: in Postcards and Images
This illustrated talk will shine a light on how much Gosport has changed over the last 80 years. Local historian, photographer, collector, and speaker Peter Greenaway will lead you through the times of Gosport’s past during his fascinating talk with images of a bygone age. Approx. 90 minutes. Please arrive 10 minutes before the start to get seated. Pre-booking required by emailing bookings@gosportheritage.co.uk by Friday 6 September at 5.30pm.

Holy Trinity - explore and enjoy: Self-led trail
If you have only ever seen the exterior of our church, you are in for a treat. Our church has probably the most beautiful interior in the south of England, with white walls, barrel-arch ceiling, marble high altar with an eighteenth-century reredos, and not least our famous ‘Handel organ’. Come in and judge for yourself, on this self-led tour. No booking required.

Gibraltar Comes To Gosport
For all you Gibraltar lovers, this is an opportunity to catch up and reconnect with the latest developments from the Rock. The Friends of Gibraltar Heritage Society visit Gosport to present a light-hearted, fun look at some aspects of life in Gibraltar. Then there will be an opportunity to meet and mingle with fellow Gibraltar lovers and catch up with all the Gibraltar gossip. Approx 90 minutes. Saturday 14 September, 11am, The Capper Room
Asylum in WWI - Emily
Stories of Asylum from WWI was a research project that led to the writing of monologues and eventually to the birth of this novel, Emily, a historical romance set in the Portsmouth Borough Asylum. Meet the author, Christine Lawrence, and hear more. There will be the opportunity to purchase your own signed copy of the book, should you wish. Approx 90 minutes.
